Plot: Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down. But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
My Movie Review: The movie is smart high octane action that's entertaining and funnier than expected yet delivers exactly what it promises lean a lot in the ridiculousness of the two leads:) Hobbs & Shaw is awesome Fast and Furious spin-off that excel in action sequence and visual display but the big climax needs a little more juice to get it over the finish line for more impact:0 The film has fun setting up Johnson and Statham as two different but equally tasty flavours of traditional masculinity: Hobbs is classic rugged and philosophical while Shaw is slickly refined!! This is set up in contrast to Idris Elba’s individualistic rogue operative, who has been improve genetically modified and refers to himself as the black superman for its built and tough exterior! Vanessa Kirby is a terrific rising star that ensure there's fresh face that can take the lead and create new flavor in the franchise fun sophisticated look can go so far when put in the spotlight! Ryan Reynolds cameo felt surreal add excitement on what's to come' random yet so effective:)
Critics Consensus: Hobbs & Shaw doesn't rev as high as the franchise's best installments, but gets decent mileage out of well-matched stars and over-the-top action sequences. Hobbs & Shaw delivers on the type of film Fast & Furious fans love: cheesy action whose stars have a blast chewing up the sets. It's held back by playing in the spy genre where the John Wick's of the world have already moved the bar far downfield. I severely doubt that 'Hobbs & Shaw' will convert anyone who isn't already all-in for the 'Fast' movies to binge through the others, but you also don't need go have seen them to appreciate this one for a solidly kinetic late-Summer beat-em-up distraction. Its impossible set pieces and a very game Elba ultimately overcome its clunky expository propulsion to be both Fast & Furious familiar and its own unique beast. While Calvin and Hobbes movie might seem like better bet, Hobbs and Shaw at least provides a fair amount of mounting excitement. Deliriously entertains, pure action escapism, B-movie ecstasy!
