Plot: Millennia after the "Sixty Minute War", a cataclysmic event that destroyed much of planet Earth, cities survive the now-desolate planet by roaming the globe on huge wheels, battling each other and devouring smaller traction towns for resources. Tom Natsworthy, a low-class citizen of the moving city of London, fights for survival after encountering the fugitive Hester Shaw. The two opposite strangers forge an unlikely alliance which just may change the future:)
My Movie Review: The movie is steampunk fantasy of young adult novel that need seasoning! Mortal Engines is more style than substance this dystonian adventure hit the high notes in the trailer feature for it's awesome visual and world building but when it comes to the story falls way below the mark and the conclusion did not flourish no bite in the end fallback to ordinary! Marketing was poor too most people didn't notice the show date resulting in box office disaster! The leads are unusual perfect for diversity but lacks in personality with surprise ensemble and weird looking villain makes imbalance and not compelling enough know what they are fighting? Robert Sheehan is the actor I like in the movie his character was quite hidden in plain sight but as the story progress you see how he uncover the world outside his own world I can relate too!
Movie News: The movie starts with a great sequence introducing us to the post apocalyptic-steampunk world, and how it works. But from their on the movie is predictable and rushed, with story lines that you have seen elsewhere and executed better elsewhere. It's predictablility wouldn't hurt if the story and most of its characters were compelling enough to allow the audience to be invested and care. As the third act of the movie began I quickly tried to rummage through the entire movie trying to justify watching the movie and I was left with only a few reasons. One of them was the world created. Standout character: Shrike, solid arc and amazing design. (You have seen this character in the trailer). You get visually stunning movie but lacking on everywhere else. In a post-apocalyptic world where cities ride on wheels and consume each other to survive, two people meet in London wheel and try to stop a conspiracy!
