TRAVEL TO MOVIES: ENOLA HOLMES

Director: Harry Bradbeer
Cast: Millie Bobby Brown , Henry Cavill , Sam Claflin , Helena Bonham Carter , Burn Gorman , Louis Partridge , Adeel Akhtar , Susan Wokoma , Hattie Morahan , David Bamber , Fiona Shaw
Plot: When Enola Holmes-Sherlock's teen sister-discovers her mother missing, she sets off to find her, becoming a super-sleuth in her own right as she outwits her famous brother and unravels a dangerous conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history around a mysterious young Lord and make adventure of their own.

My Movie Review: The movie is a fast-paced clever entertainment with teenage adventure along the way that often serves conspiracy theories in a hot plate & put the lead in harm's way! Enola Holmes is a little overwrought and sometimes lose its vibe but Millie Bobby Brown's charming heroine and Henry Cavill's fun Sherlock pull off all the twists and turn bake the cake:) Why Enola Holmes is bad? The biggest problem with this film is that it doesn't quite know what it wants to be on some part and towards the middle the quest become different than expect! The opening 15 minutes sets up to be Enola's genius psyche and her crazy ability to solve the smallest of problems but I started to enjoy watching when she met a mysterious young Lord hiding her train cabin and so the adventure began with little bit fight scenes and stowing away:) The Netflix Original is a delightful film that is fun and surprisingly not that predictable, like many movies these days I love that it says you have to live a life that's yours as an ending message:)

Critics Consensus: Enola Holmes brings a breath of fresh air to Baker Street-- and leaves plenty of room for Millie Bobby Brown to put her effervescent stamp on a franchise in waiting! I'd like to see a follow-up - only this time, get a real mystery writer involved at the screenplay stage. Buoyant and precocious without being even slightly annoying, Brown has pinpoint comic timing, infectious perk, and a wholesome, tomboyish aura: imagine a young Keira Knightley crossed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. At a little more than two hours, "Enola Holmes" may be a tad long, but there are a lot of threads to unravel and it does so more than satisfactorily. Fleet and mostly exhilarating...an engaging riff on the Holmes mystique, and the start of what could become an enjoyable franchise. Enola Holmes is that rare gift that falls under the umbrella of 'family film' that still packs a great satisfying wallop for adult audiences too. A welcome and refreshing take on the Sherlock story, it gives us a new unauthorized Holmes sleuth to ponder:)

TRAVEL TO PLACES: PHILIPPINES-- SAMGYUPSAL NIGHT

My Personal Experience: I went to have Samgyupsal Night this year July 5, 2020, together with our neighbor in the province. This is the first time they invite me to their samgyupsal night!! It's nice to experience bonding with your neighbors once in a while with delicious food- meals and dessert that you don't eat often refreshing for me to have this gathering even it's lockdown!

Samgyupsal Night
What does samgyupsal mean? The word 삼겹살 / samgyeopsal literally means “three layer flesh”, and denotes a cut of uncured pork belly which is predominately characterized by layers of fat-meat-fat-meat-fat-meat (starting with the outer later), often including a thin layer of skin on the outside. Korean’s preference for this rich cut of pork for use is found in its frequency of use in Korean cuisine well beyond its common use at your typical Korean BBQ, also being used as the prime cut of choice for steamed 보쌈 / bossam …not to mention one of a few different cuts that can used when preparing 제육 주물럭 / jumuleok and 두루치기 / duruchigi:(:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME

Director: Antonio Campos
Cast: Tom Holland , Robert Pattinson , Harry Melling , Bill Skarsgård , Michael Banks Repeta , Sebastian Stan , Jason Clarke , Haley Bennett , Riley Keough , Eliza Scanlen , Kristin Griffith , Mia Wasikowska , Pokey LaFarge , David Atkinson , Mia Goth , Douglas Hodge , Drew Starkey
Plot: A young man is devoted to protecting his loved ones in a town full of corruption and sinister characters as converge around him in all post-war backwoods town teeming with corruption and brutality.

My Movie Review: The movie is full of layers you need to watch it very keen to appreciate its presence otherwise it will leave you to its gruesome parts that's not pleasant to watch and get stuck to its dark without seeing the light you need to process the violence and sorrow it shows!! At first I don't like this film with such a grim start I thought its going to be like that all the time so what I did is I watch it part by part so that I can brace on what to come absorb what can I take:) I have to understand its roots before making a judgement so I watch giving my full attention to it and all of sudden I started liking it as the story flows I started to keep afloat as wanting more!! The killing of the couple was shocking at first and then it became a routine I have to admit I enjoy those parts even if its brutal to think about you can't help to wonder how will they do it on the next victim until they got the taste of their own medicine in the final parts, unexpected thrill:)

Critics Consensus: The Devil All the Time's descent into darkness can be harrowing to the point of punishment, but it's offset by strong work from a stellar cast. When The Devil All the Time does plunge into the moral abyss, it's intoxicating -- if only it did it more often. A slow burn showcasing how the environment, education, and religion all churn together to produce a captivatingly in-depth story that haunts you long after the credits roll. An enthralling and often disturbing exposé of the dark side of a period of history we see far too often sanitized for easy consumption. A breathtakingly directed and powerfully performed Southern Gothic delight. An admittedly overlong yet consistently engrossing drama... This is one of the most ruthless, yet gripping Netflix Originals to date. There are instances of heart and significance scattered throughout the film, but it too often gives into its wandering nature and stops itself from ever making a lasting impression. While I understand why this movie would be appealing to some, I found myself respecting the craft more than enjoying the experience. Such fiendishly' gripping:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: THE PARAMEDIC

Director: Carles Torras
Cast: Mario Casas , Déborah François , Guillermo Pfening , Martin Bacigalupo , Alice Bocchi , Celso Bugallo , Raúl Jiménez , Maria Rodríguez Soto , Tony Corvillo , Gerard Oms , Sara Ruiz
Plot: Angel works in an ambulance service. After a tragic accident, his personal life begins to deteriorate as he becomes more and more suspicious of his partner Vane. After suffering a serious accident, Angel's life with Vane begins to unravel; obsessed with the idea that she is unfaithful to him, his life will turn into hell.

My Movie Review: The movie is a dark twisted plot thriller with unexpectedly intense start that withers in the second half where a man uses his medical skills for revenge as he felt jealous and depress with well-executed slow burn trap trick which can be hard to come by these days:) The Paramedic is one of my most anticipated movies coming this 2020 when I first saw Netflix is releasing this film I felt excited and knew it will be good but I never know until its going to be agonizing with Ángel such an unlikeable protagonist that some of the sequences involving his revenge plots and general existence' feel grueling and unpleasant to endure his so bad doings! Mario Casas is convincing as he fell deep to the character he completely lose himself there’s something to be said for his craftsmanship and the way it commits to acting his part so reeling!! Déborah François however though new to me boasts strong performance with the competent script make a lasting first impression she deserves more recognition with that persistence acts!

Critic Reviews: The Paramedic is about a lonely man with a deadly obsession that fails to go further than the limited potential of the plot. It's solid enough for a Friday night. And its main character serves a homage to how a villain must begin forming itself. There is some degree of suspense in terms of what Ángel will be able to get away with and how he will manage to inflict so much pain and misery, but too much of the film feels like fait accompli from the beginning. A perverse and narcissist thriller. The actor surpasses a major physical and acting challenge! Boasts strong performances, a competent script, and a well-executed slow burn which can be hard to come by these days. Horror movie about revenge has disturbing violence. A mixed-bag of a thriller...but one that builds up to a fine, furious finale that atones for some of its first and second-act sins. I found the plot interesting. Good camera work and particularly love how they used facial expressions and music to tell part of the story. As intensity you can't just make it up!
