Director: Hallvard Braein
Cast: Anders Baasmo Christiansen , Sven Nordin , Kathrine Thorborg Johansen , Ida Husøy , Henrik Mestad , Otto Jespersen , Björn Kjellman , Peter Kurth , Kostja Ullmann , Ruby O. Fee
Plot: The asphalt is burning, the tires are turning - at a breakneck pace and in tuned cars it goes from Trollstigen mountain road in Norway via Sweden and Denmark to the Nürburgring in Germany - where Roy has to win a race or lose his fiancee Sylvia. A bet that the crazy car enthusiast made on the wedding night after one too many drinks with Roy's challenger Robin who likes the beautiful bride. On the ludicrous and turbulent road trip, Roy not only meets tough adversaries (Henning Baum, The BossHoss) and hot chicks, but soon also the police (Milan Peschel, Peter Kurth) are after him. But that's not all: Roy has to deal with two namesakes (Kostja Ullmann), the import hit Wencke Myhre and a dead corpse in the trunk and then on top of it all suddenly his car is gone. But giving up is not an option for Roy because: "The race isn't over until it's over."
My Movie Review: The movie is bizarre with amazing cars in action next to a gorgeous misty mountain woot visually wondrous thunder is backdrop for bevy of waxed-an-inch-of-their-lives:) Asphalt Burning is somewhat stupid though still very watchable this flick is everything a movie should not be yet it works somehow quirks ideas like Race for the bride? or Drive for love, Roy! The story here is pretty barebones, even without the added context of the previous movies, and revolves around bad-boy racer Roy who’s on the verge of getting married unfortunately he loses a race up the mountain to secure his sweetheart Sylvia and had kissed someone Robyn! When it comes to comedy, outside the fast CGI scenes this movie isn’t particularly amusing! There’s a recurring joke involving different guys called Roy because their all called Roy which fine with me I give it a pass but despite imperfections what I like about it can stood on its own:0
Others Review: It was a decent movie. Great humor, decent storyline and for most gearheads it has some pretty good car scenes that actually makes sense. But, there were many scenes that seemed like they had ran out of money and made it worse. Also the CGI was awful, just awful. For a movie released in 1990, it would be good, but for a 2020 movie... No, just no. All in all, it's a great movie to watch with some friends and have some fun, but not a movie I would choose to watch over and over. A bit hokey some fun things going on in this movie, the main storyline was interesting, and the real car scenes were cool. However, the 'action' shots were too hokey and there were a few weird subplots. Acting was okay. Good cinematography. Just for the picture with the Mustang I gave it a go. The reason is simple I am into muscle cars. And for that reason only you will love this flick. It's full of muscle cars in the beginning. It do add some power cars too. A delight to see them. The movie itself just can't be taken seriously. It tries to be funny in which it fails. For me just watch it for the cars. I haven't had expectations but movie surprised me. It's very cringe and funny scenes are mostly realistic and really filmed!
