TRAVEL TO MOVIES: MOTHER/ ANDROID

Director: Mattson Tomlin
Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz , Algee Smith , Raúl Castillo , Kiara Pichardo , Oscar Wahlberg , Jared Reinfeldt , Christian Mallen , Owen Burke , Kate Avallone , Stephen Thorne , Jon F. Merz
Plot: Set in the near future, Mother/Android follows Georgia and her boyfriend Sam through their treacherous journey of escape as their country is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, they must face No Man's Land -- a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before she giving birth.

My Movie Review: The movie is giving me some the 5th wave since Chloë Grace Moretz and the set-up of post apocalyptic are somewhat the same but this time she's pregnant Georgia with her boyfriend Sam, flee their country in a desperate search for safety as the world battles artificial intelligence, science fiction film that overtaken America by a deadly and violent robots:) Mother/Android offers a dystopian sci-fi scenario that starts with a bang, even if it falters in the later going it manages to be something to look for ward yet quite slow and uneventful, some  scenes lack tension and suspense but overall is a journey that open to potential if put on track! A few years after graduating from film school, Director Tomlin struggled to write his first movie, until he decided to loosely focus on a very personal story, that of his own adoption, which he said became a personal love letter to his biological parents so you can say it's partly true story! The thing that sadly happen to Sam don't like presumably dead by the end of Mother/Android after he is tortured by the A.I. and used as bait to catch Georgia, his legs are destroyed as the origins of his devastating injuries aren't clearly stated, but he either fell off of the dirt bike during his capture or the A.I. decided to start with his legs I was hoping for a complete family survives! Arthur's twist changes everything for humanity in Mother/Android: not only does he ends up leading some of the androids into Boston, but he also reveals himself to Georgia as being an android himself with ulterior motives, goes on rampage Georgia shoots him activates' the EMP!

Critics Consensus: Mother/Android transcends its budgetary limitations on a visual level -- unfortunately, this sci-fi drama is far less successful on the storytelling front. Even though its personal backstory is touching, this weird apocalyptic survival thriller lacks thrills and even elicits unexpected laughter at what are supposed to be its most poignant moments. There is some panache to the film's visuals and a lot of heart in the actors' collective dedication, but Mother/Android feels like a mash-up of genre staples to forgettable effect. It's well-crafted and resourceful within its bounds, smoothly integrating Massachusetts locations and modest FX to create a credible-enough portrait of a civilized world that's badly eroded in just a few short months. Though it has a strong sense of urgency and a backstory rooting for, Mother/Android is bland Netflix Sci-Fi flick that takes influence from many before it yet doesn't have enough flair of its own. There’s a sense of irony the fact that this story is about humanity of emotional connections distinguishing us from the cold callousness of machines. A stale and spineless post-apocalyptic thriller. Mother/Android isn't the sci-fi movie you think it's going to be, or even it probably wants to be, but it's nonetheless a solid first-time feature from from writer/director Mattson Tomlin. For it to truly connect with its audience, things still have to make sense don't always, low budget sci-fi flick Mother/Android no masterpiece but it's step in the right direction:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: DON'T LOOK UP

Director: Adam McKay
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio , Jennifer Lawrence , Meryl Streep , Cate Blanchett , Rob Morgan , Jonah Hill , Tyler Perry , Mark Rylance , Timothée Chalamet , Ron Perlman , Melanie Lynskey
Plot: Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem: it's on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it's too late proves shockingly comical to get the world just look up?!

My Movie Review: The movie is a social satire that has a strong warning about the need to protect the environment/save the planet; it's intended to move viewers in waves to take action:) Don't Look Up is ultimately about people whose minds are already made up and the rare few who refuse to have their minds made up for them on the state of growing misinformation and the dangerous hypocrisies of this digital age to the heavily topic of world extinction in our time:( Don't Look Up provides a humorous perspective on elitism, power and the possiblity of end of the world it is a very funny, inventive dramedy, with a lot of current pop references, with great performances and apt social commentary you can count with a very entertaining movie overall! McKay has made this a very angry, deeply anguished comedy freak out about how we are blowing it hurtling toward oblivion, the film is completely absurd and it's supposed to be with the style, cast and absurdity just work together as everything about is ridiculous but in fun way! On the contrary there's a lot to dislike about this cause the editing is sloppy, its protagonists range from infidelity-driven corporate sellouts like Leo DiCaprio to angry liberal snowflakes ass off Jennifer Lawrence although both the movie and its audience are aware that this is the case! Don't Look Up despite its flaws is a loud wake-up call to take act against a preventable crisis:) Activists, scientists, even everyday people call for recognition of climate crisis, campaigning for action to be taken against corporations' exploitation of the world and its useful potent resource!

Critics Consensus: Don't Look Up aims too high for its scattershot barbs to consistently land, but Adam McKay's star-studded satire hits its target of collective denial square on. Don't Look Up shows us what happens if we wait too long to interrogate our culture and ourselves, lose sight of truth, and fail to take action. Ultimately, Don't Look Up is more than just mean-spirited and smug. It's aggressively those things that is, until that sentimental coda. McKay's movies are not particularly pointed in their satire and, as time has gone on, have increasingly settled into their preferred form of harangue. The film suffers in that the human moments aren’t nearly human enough. Don't Look Up accurately depicts how sensationalism today can stoke panic, fear, and mistrust among public. Suddenly, science doesn’t matter as much, when it contradicts one’s personal truths. I laughed, I laughed some more, and I nearly died at certain points… but through all the satirical material there is true heart to the entire film… as well tense themes that make us look at ourselves. DiCaprio is incredible! Disaster film is a fitting title because this film was a disaster. On par with a mediocre SNL sketch. Don't Look Up hilariously approaches almost every theme worthy of discussion through Adam McKay's satirical screenplay that will undoubtedly leave viewers either incredibly satisfied or extremely triggered. Despite some clever gags and laughs-- the film ultimately runs out of steam and fails to make a deep impact:(

TRAVEL TO PLACES: SINGAPORE-- GARDEN SPRITZ

My Personal Experience: I went to CapitaSpring Singapore in their Garden Spritz on the 17th floor last August 12, 2022, together with my sister- who almost took pics of me in every corner:) Garden Spritz is a signage I saw on the back entrance of Sol & Luna that's why it's the title of my post but this place is simply the Sky Garden at CapitaSpring- its breath of fresh air to see it!

Garden Spritz
This is definitely worth the visit. Instead of paying quite much to see the views from Marina Bay Sands you can come here for free. It’s actually quite chilly up at the 51st floor garden, what a nice surprise. Great views to all directions. Make sure to also visit the 17-20th floors, it’s a little walkway through those floors. It's like little secret because there were hardly any other people! It is over 4 floors and the views are 360 degrees. There is a lot of greenery and it was beautiful and quiet. Also go up to the very top floor and see the garden at the top. It was so peaceful:) You'll have to book online for free ticket's but no one seemed to bothered about checking them!
