TRAVEL TO MOVIES: OLOTURE

Director: Kenneth Gyang
Cast: Sharon Ooja , Omowumi Dada , Ada Ameh , Omoni Oboli , Beverly Osu , Patrick Doyle , Blossom Chukwujekwu , Sambasa Nzeribe , Bukola Oladipupo , Daniel Effiong , Segun Arinze
Plot: A journalist goes undercover as a prostitute to expose but she only finds a world of exploited women and ruthless violence. Set in Nigeria, Oloture is the story of a young, naive Nigerian journalist who goes undercover to expose the shady underworld of human trafficking:(

My Movie Review: The movie is devastating portrait of misadventures in the world of human trafficking that's quite intimidating at first yet as it go on moving and relatable stories took place very effective performance and powerful in execution this one is really a diamond in the rough:) Oloture is not a kind of movie you usually see but if you monitor every new releases every month like me you may come across with this at the start of last October this worth your peak:0 This is really an excellent movie as it does not shy away from the realities of young black women in that country and poverty plays real big part why this happen and still happening now! Oloture is not just a film in some ways its a moment that reminds us to stay woke and make us think others sake you should know it isn’t for the faint of heart as it has moments that really shocking and the brutality is in high par so let this be a cautionary tale and consider being safe!

Movie News: The Good: Impressive cinematography. Given the movie’s theme it captures people and places in fitting surrealism so that the audience’s attention remains focused on the movie’s theme. There is no distracting glamour. Just gritty, sweaty and hard-hitting unglazed reality. Sharon Ooja impresses as the titular protagonist, an undercover journalist posing as a prostitute to investigate a sex trafficking cartel. Omoni Oboli also impresses as the Sex traffic Madam complete with a scowling attitude albeit almost ruined by her (and the movie’s) off-putting obsession with cigarettes. The Bad: The story was basic and uncomplicated such that it questions why it needed an undercover journalist investigating a sex traffic cartel to drive the storyline. Then, there was the implausible hint at a possible romance between Oloture and her editor which came off as rather lame. The Ugly: That scene of Patrick Doyle’s Sir Philip room raping a drugged Oloture, hands down, deserves to be AMVCA for Ugly Sex Face of the year:0

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: VAMPIRES VS. THE BRONX

Director: Osmany Rodriguez
Cast: Jaden Michael , Gregory Diaz IV , Sarah Gadon , Adam David Thompson , Method Man, Shea Whigham ,The Kid Mero , Chris Redd , Vladimir Caamaño , Gerald Jones , Zoe Saldana
Plot: A group of three young friends from the Bronx fight to save their neighborhood from gentrification...and vampires.

My Movie Review: The movie is a witty likeable refreshing take on vampire lore that gets more exciting towards the midway using it as a means to highlight the horrors of gentrification! A silly fun but slight horror-comedy that's clever and engaging as it doesn't do much with its biting metaphor on urban gentrification for those who enjoy supernatural and adventure flicks:)( Vampires vs the Bronx is some light-hearted with underlying message and a steady stream of great gags that manages to put a stake to the heart of few real issues while it tickles your ribs:) This young bloods clean up the concourse it exceeded my expectations as a trio of teens from The Bronx were concerned about their local grocery store shutdown cause of new real estate development and what shocking to me the store operator die sad and not necessary but also brilliant- unexpected moments like this makes the movie so authentic and it fresh start as well:)

Critics Consensus: In the sharp, socially conscious battle of Vampires vs. the Bronx, comedy and horror blend brilliantly and the audience is the winner. There's a comfortable, familiar, save-the-old-community-centre spirit about this movie. Do recommend checking it, specially if you're in a Halloween mood. It's a fun movie, but it could have been a lot better. Alive, inventive, and specific, this horror-comedy is an absolute winner. Who would have thought with a title like that this would be a decent film! The non-elaborate scenarios and relaxed posture generate a likable indie flavor... When a horror-comedy is as agile, charming, and funny as this, everybody wins. A formulaic story with refreshing cultural lens and social commentary.....A Latinx household is fully equipped for a possible vampire invasion. It wasn't painful, but I had high expectations...the jokes did hit made me laugh...It exceeded expectations...fun and short:)

TRAVEL TO PLACES: PHILIPPINES-- HAWAIIAN THEME BIRTHDAY

My Personal Experience: I went to our other house for Hawaiian Theme Birthday last year July 10, 2020, together with my neighbors. I went to the grass in front of the house for that Hawaiian Feels for my solo photos plus added Pineapple Juice, Pineapple Chunks to top it All:) I made it possible to be in outdoor set-up because its my birthday I will do what I like.. freedom!

Hawaiian Theme Birthday
A luau is a Hawaiian party or feast often accompanied by entertainment. It's an event where friends and family eat, laugh and bond through a fun shared experience. You can do it as a simple backyard BBQ or go all-out and re-create a tropical Hawaiian experience. Throwing a Hawaiian theme party is easier than you think. A lūʻau (Hawaiian: lūʻau, also anglicized as "luau") is a traditional Hawaiian party or feast. It may feature food such as poi, kālua puaʻa (kālua pig), poke, lomi salmon, ʻopihi, & haupia, beer and traditional Hawaiian Music and Hula:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: ENOLA HOLMES

Director: Harry Bradbeer
Cast: Millie Bobby Brown , Henry Cavill , Sam Claflin , Helena Bonham Carter , Burn Gorman , Louis Partridge , Adeel Akhtar , Susan Wokoma , Hattie Morahan , David Bamber , Fiona Shaw
Plot: When Enola Holmes-Sherlock's teen sister-discovers her mother missing, she sets off to find her, becoming a super-sleuth in her own right as she outwits her famous brother and unravels a dangerous conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history around a mysterious young Lord and make adventure of their own.

My Movie Review: The movie is a fast-paced clever entertainment with teenage adventure along the way that often serves conspiracy theories in a hot plate & put the lead in harm's way! Enola Holmes is a little overwrought and sometimes lose its vibe but Millie Bobby Brown's charming heroine and Henry Cavill's fun Sherlock pull off all the twists and turn bake the cake:) Why Enola Holmes is bad? The biggest problem with this film is that it doesn't quite know what it wants to be on some part and towards the middle the quest become different than expect! The opening 15 minutes sets up to be Enola's genius psyche and her crazy ability to solve the smallest of problems but I started to enjoy watching when she met a mysterious young Lord hiding her train cabin and so the adventure began with little bit fight scenes and stowing away:) The Netflix Original is a delightful film that is fun and surprisingly not that predictable, like many movies these days I love that it says you have to live a life that's yours as an ending message:)

Critics Consensus: Enola Holmes brings a breath of fresh air to Baker Street-- and leaves plenty of room for Millie Bobby Brown to put her effervescent stamp on a franchise in waiting! I'd like to see a follow-up - only this time, get a real mystery writer involved at the screenplay stage. Buoyant and precocious without being even slightly annoying, Brown has pinpoint comic timing, infectious perk, and a wholesome, tomboyish aura: imagine a young Keira Knightley crossed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. At a little more than two hours, "Enola Holmes" may be a tad long, but there are a lot of threads to unravel and it does so more than satisfactorily. Fleet and mostly exhilarating...an engaging riff on the Holmes mystique, and the start of what could become an enjoyable franchise. Enola Holmes is that rare gift that falls under the umbrella of 'family film' that still packs a great satisfying wallop for adult audiences too. A welcome and refreshing take on the Sherlock story, it gives us a new unauthorized Holmes sleuth to ponder:)

TRAVEL TO PLACES: PHILIPPINES-- SAMGYUPSAL NIGHT

My Personal Experience: I went to have Samgyupsal Night this year July 5, 2020, together with our neighbor in the province. This is the first time they invite me to their samgyupsal night!! It's nice to experience bonding with your neighbors once in a while with delicious food- meals and dessert that you don't eat often refreshing for me to have this gathering even it's lockdown!

Samgyupsal Night
What does samgyupsal mean? The word 삼겹살 / samgyeopsal literally means “three layer flesh”, and denotes a cut of uncured pork belly which is predominately characterized by layers of fat-meat-fat-meat-fat-meat (starting with the outer later), often including a thin layer of skin on the outside. Korean’s preference for this rich cut of pork for use is found in its frequency of use in Korean cuisine well beyond its common use at your typical Korean BBQ, also being used as the prime cut of choice for steamed 보쌈 / bossam …not to mention one of a few different cuts that can used when preparing 제육 주물럭 / jumuleok and 두루치기 / duruchigi:(:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME

Director: Antonio Campos
Cast: Tom Holland , Robert Pattinson , Harry Melling , Bill Skarsgård , Michael Banks Repeta , Sebastian Stan , Jason Clarke , Haley Bennett , Riley Keough , Eliza Scanlen , Kristin Griffith , Mia Wasikowska , Pokey LaFarge , David Atkinson , Mia Goth , Douglas Hodge , Drew Starkey
Plot: A young man is devoted to protecting his loved ones in a town full of corruption and sinister characters as converge around him in all post-war backwoods town teeming with corruption and brutality.

My Movie Review: The movie is full of layers you need to watch it very keen to appreciate its presence otherwise it will leave you to its gruesome parts that's not pleasant to watch and get stuck to its dark without seeing the light you need to process the violence and sorrow it shows!! At first I don't like this film with such a grim start I thought its going to be like that all the time so what I did is I watch it part by part so that I can brace on what to come absorb what can I take:) I have to understand its roots before making a judgement so I watch giving my full attention to it and all of sudden I started liking it as the story flows I started to keep afloat as wanting more!! The killing of the couple was shocking at first and then it became a routine I have to admit I enjoy those parts even if its brutal to think about you can't help to wonder how will they do it on the next victim until they got the taste of their own medicine in the final parts, unexpected thrill:)

Critics Consensus: The Devil All the Time's descent into darkness can be harrowing to the point of punishment, but it's offset by strong work from a stellar cast. When The Devil All the Time does plunge into the moral abyss, it's intoxicating -- if only it did it more often. A slow burn showcasing how the environment, education, and religion all churn together to produce a captivatingly in-depth story that haunts you long after the credits roll. An enthralling and often disturbing exposé of the dark side of a period of history we see far too often sanitized for easy consumption. A breathtakingly directed and powerfully performed Southern Gothic delight. An admittedly overlong yet consistently engrossing drama... This is one of the most ruthless, yet gripping Netflix Originals to date. There are instances of heart and significance scattered throughout the film, but it too often gives into its wandering nature and stops itself from ever making a lasting impression. While I understand why this movie would be appealing to some, I found myself respecting the craft more than enjoying the experience. Such fiendishly' gripping:)
