TRAVEL TO MOVIES: CHRISTMAS CROSSFIRE

Director: Detlev Buck
Cast: Kostja Ullmann , Alli Neumann , Sascha Alexander Gersak , Merlin Rose , Peter Kurth , Sophia Thomalla , Director B. , Anika Mauer , Malte Thomsen , Karsten Mielke , Jakob Schmidt
Plot: A man foils an attempted murder, then flees the crew of would-be killers along with their intended target as a woman he's just met tries to find him.

My Movie Review: The movie is a unique dark comedy thriller that holds your attention as on and on it goes, grimly violent yet glibly fun but what's making it special is set during Christmas:) While it is laced with some slight comedy at first, it slowly pushes into the crime and thriller aspect with ease with characters ready to be sinister and light wherever the script takes them:) Christmas Crossfire is entertaining and quite the experience it manages to unravel a vast array of knotty plot twists into something engaging from beginning to its end what more can you ask? The German film adheres to the “cat and mouse” chase, keeps it as violent as it needs to be while also managing to maintain the story with an air of measured silliness and what I craved about it most is there's always an element of surprise, like you can feel the danger is in the air:) Christmas Crossfire is stimulating, action-filled slight sinister humor as it does let itself down slightly with the repetitiveness, but then it circles back to an aggressive finale, on their third act!

Movie News: Christmas Crossfire is a dark comedy/thriller movie directed by Detlev Buck and starring Kostja Ullmann, Alli Neumann and Sascha Alexander Gersak, alongside others. Ah, what a year to be merry on Christmas. With Netflix coming out with one cheesy Christmas rom-com after another, it’s no wonder that we get another holiday-special movie to usher in the merriment. Only that, Christmas Crossfire isn’t really a movie with very little, if any, holiday cheer. I think the title itself is quite self-explanatory. It is quite safe to assume that there’s going to be no cheer or merriment in this very dark comedy about a man with the worst luck possible! Christmas Crossfire follows Samuel, a professor, who meets Edda at a bar and decides to go to her house in the countryside to attend her father’s birthday. However, on the way, some “fun” times result in him stumbling across a murder taking place which ushers in a series of misfortunes for the poor guy. There’s a lot of bloodshed to be seen and jokes surrounding it! Christmas Crossfire takes place in an one idyllic village where no one really bats an eye about anything. Everyone’s pretty unaffected by stabs and gunshots they hear like that’s no big deal! It’s movie about love, betrayal and vengeance and it delivers' on the vengeance part very well:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: BREAK

Director: Marc Fouchard
Cast: Sabrina Ouazani , Kévin Mischel , Slimane Nebchi , Hassam Ghancy, Jackson Ntcham , Camille Japy , Aymen Saïdi , Fahmi Guerbaa , Maxime Pambet , Salomon Az , Maxime Cointe
Plot: Lucie, a young dancer suffers an accident. When she wakes up from a coma, she and her partner start training for a dance show. On the way, she starts looking for her estranged father, a path that might lead her to life-changing love:)

My Movie Review: The movie is quite impressive in execution as suspenseful in atmosphere but it never ratchets up the intensity to a level where it seems memorable and story didn't pop!! Break is very moving though it is not inspired by any one person, nor will it feature real rappers and other musicians, The Breaks is actually based on a true story it uses Real Hip Hop History! Break is nothing new or surprising, but the expression and art form are wondrous to watch especially the dancing in the edge of the building, that's insightful and progressive in my book:) Well it is about freedom and it is about love too, things to be expected many probably will say this is predictable to a degree still the drama is very well drawn out and the story makes sense! The dance scenes are very important factor here very well choreographed and incorporated into the dramatical structure of the movie, if you are into dance will tickle your excitement bone! What is extremely rare is that their acting and dancing stand on their own, many dancers of this caliber have trouble being believable as straight actors but both leads are such exception:)

Others Review: Break (2020) review – a seen-before premise but with wonderful expression! Not another one. That’s the first thought that ran through my mind when I saw the premise for Break. I’m such a sucker for movies that involve dance, and since Step Up, we have become far too accustomed to these emotionally driven, romantic, street-dance-like stories. Its premise despite the lack of originality can stimulate the viewer; it has that similar feeling that movies about sports bring anticipation and growth of the characters. Break brings nothing new to the table, but there’s no denying it’s delivered right; it follows a dancer named Lucie, and after an unfortunate accident, she has to find the confidence to return to the dance scene. The lead has to overcome family troubles after hitting rock bottom, but the story offers an opportunity, as she finds a like-minded dance partner who needs a second chance at life. Break has a strong form of expression ingrained in the story; the French Netflix film understands dance at heart. This is not a generic dance movie — there’s some emotive Art form behind it. Dance like you mean it:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: THE BEAST

Director: Ludovico Di Martino
Cast: Fabrizio Gifuni , Lino Musella , Monica Piseddu , Andrea Pennacchi , Emanuele Linfatti , Giada Gagliardi , Andrei Nova , Nicolò Galasso , Giacomo Colavito , Camille Dugay Comencini
Plot: An unstable veteran tries to rescue and unleashes the beast within himself during his quest. He quickly becomes suspected. Leonida Riva is a solitary war veteran who has spent years away from his family. When his daughter Teresa is kidnap he rediscovers the anger and ferocity he thought he had buried in the past.

My Movie Review: The movie is actually good unlike others say the best part about this is that the main character isn't as perfect, he gets shot, stabbed, severely beaten, gets out of breath, drowned and at one point flatlines on the way to hospital after a lengthy fight scene, which is more than I can say for other action protagonists' that single shot fight scene was a pretty neat! The Beast is enjoyable for what it is an action movie that delivers the punch despite its total lack of surprise, once it gets started the action doesn't relent so there isn't enough of a pause to ponder just try to stay focus for you not to miss a blink once the faster action scene happen:) It's worth watching I can understand why people say its similar to Taken but don't get turned off by that, just give it a watch and it does pull you in its entertainment that doesn't require much thought or reflection and even the predictability of its climactic scene is fun to see- play around! A short, crisp and meaningful plot so if this a bad action movie would have no action but its a good action movie cause it has action presented in innovative ways but just like most action thriller when the conclusion is revealed this kind of action movie land somewhere in the middle!

Critic Reviews: An Italian Taken gripping, grueling ride, start to very very much drawn-out finish. While it goes all in on the skull cracking and henchmen fights there is, The Beast doesn't surround its single minded protagonist with enough dramatic cellulose to offset or even validate his lawless persistence. You’ve seen this movie before. In fact, you’ve seen it at least three times already. A retired military man, with a particular set of skills, runs riot through a European city while hunting down the bad guys who have kidnapped his daughter. The Beast, or “Italian Taken,” does just about enough to avoid a lawsuit. The premise here might be identical to what happens in that Liam Neeson actioner, but the characters are drawn a little sharper, and the story beats feel a little weightier. Gifuni, who plays the ageing, PTSD-stricken Leonida Riva, manages to add layers to an otherwise clichéd part. He is estranged from his family. He is a man whose psyche is so shaped by war that he is unable to find a way to live an everyday life. Riva to save his daughter: the excuse he needs to go back into battle. It gives his life purpose:)
