TRAVEL TO PLACES: PHILIPPINES-- STREAT MARKET

My Personal Experience: I went to Streat Market near my sister condo in McKinley Hill, BGC last year July 29, 2022, together with my sister who wants to try pinoy isaw, chicken, pork bbq:) Streat Market such a cool hangout during a night cap in the city with elusive lights you can only find once in a while as I was attracted to the different colors of juices in the jar's sight to behold!

Streat Market
The Streat Market BGC is currently at the Venice Grand Canal with plans to open in Cubao, Greenhills, Bicutan, and in Las Pinas. It has been trendy among Pinoy food lovers that more street markets will be opening soon all over Manila. The Streat Market in Venice Grand Canal Mall is just the beginning with more coming in the future. The bestseller would be the Korean corndogs, Japanese Takoyaki, and Korean Topokki. They never seem to run out of them. If you’re a big fan of K-drama or Korean culture, then you’re in luck! Don’t forget to take IG-Worthy photos of your food! But one of the most popular stalls at the market would have to be the Pinoy BBQ area. Isaw, BBQ, chicken, pork, hotdog are extremely popular among the locals and expats that they need to refill every time. The Streat Market is open from Friday-Saturday (6AM – 10PM) but it could extend depending on the number of orders-- ordered by the people:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: NIGHTBOOKS

Director: David Yarovesky
Cast: Winslow Fegley , Lidya Jewett , Krysten Ritter , Jess Brown , Mathieu Bourassa , Trixie , Luxton Handspiker , Liam Couvion , Khiyla Aynne , Riley O'Donnell , Jill Frappier , Taylor Belle
Plot: Alex (Winslow Fegley) is a creative boy with a strong passion for writing scary stories. But when he's labeled weird and rejected for what he likes, he swears he'll never write again. That's when an evil witch (Krysten Ritter), captures him in her magical apartment in New York City and demands that he tell her a new tale every night if he wants to stay alive. Trapped inside with Lenore, the witch's spiteful cat watching his every move, Alex meets Yasmin (Lidya Jewett), another young prisoner who has learned how to survive the witch's wicked whims. With Yasmin's help, Alex must learn to embrace what makes him unique -- his love for scary stories -- and rewrite his own destiny to break them free.

My Movie Review: The movie is one for the books certainly push its audience to the limit with its unrelenting fusillade of jump scares a new Netflix original kids fantasy-horror movie based on the book under the same name. Alex who has a passion to write scary stories, get trapped in a wicked witch’s magical apartment and finds out that the only way to survive is by telling spine-tingling horror stories to the witch, Natacha. Meanwhile he also tempts to escape from the witch, together with another prisoner for a family horror Nightbooks did quite well for itself! If you have the opportunity to sit down, watch Nightbooks you should do because this family horror movie has something to offer everyone in the family often scary, occasionally disgusting, this film fails to clear the bar for safe, scary children's entertainment but that's what make it fun! Nightbooks is a lesson in self-acceptance disguised as an adventure where a young boy finds himself prisoner in a witch's enchanted apartment as the only way he can stay alive is to tell her a scary story every night note to mention the colorful backdrops in the dark made it pop:) Krysten Ritter is a sight to behold fit like a glove as her Natacha's bone keys have the power to open any magical door in her apartment and she make sure they never leave her side' killing it!

Critics Consensus: Its contents may be a bit busy and overly familiar, but Nightbooks offers a fun and actually fairly scary gateway to horror for younger viewers. Its whimsical touches, along with a reverence for creative young minds, gives the film a warmth that counterbalances its shocks. Yarovesky has a knack for tricks of light - shadows, neon night vision and motion cast in silhouette - and the movie is at its most deliciously chilling when it favors visual flair over jump scares. Nightbooks takes a while to warm up, but the back half brings the gateway horror fun. It's for the young and the young at heart, wrapping a very familiar tale in creative horror-fantasy packaging. 'Nightbooks', being a film about writing scary stories, pays notable respect to their long history and the core of what makes a good one. Didn’t know what I’d get from this one but I got a delightful, horror filled, family movie that reminded me of Goosebumps & Are you afraid of the dark. Krysten Ritter is perfectly cast (and outfitted by costume designer Peter P. Nicolakakos) in this fun and entertaining gateway horror film. While the book may be better, I'd happily watch a sequel in a heartbeat! The plot takes a few unexpected turns, Fegley is a great nerd-hero and Ritter has the most fun of all as a Punk-Rock Elvira in platform shoes:)

TRAVEL TO PLACES: PHILIPPINES-- SWAN SONG

My Personal Experience: I went to Venice Grand Canal Mall in Swan Song as in swan boats pass through me last year July 29, 2022, together with my sister who spot ace to took my pics:) Swan Song is a term I first encounter when Dua Lipa release a song for the movie Alita: Battle Angel in February 2019, as seen the swans in the stream- I come up with the term Swan Song!

Swan Song
A swan song is a metaphor used to refer to a final gesture before retirement. The term originated in ancient Greek culture, and its first reference is found in Aeschylus' Agamemnon, which was written in 458 BC. A swan song is the final performance of an actor, singer, composer, poet, or the like. According to folklore, swans sing most beautifully before they die, and hence this phrase came to be used to describe someone who was leaving in style. It may refer to the final speech or act made by a politician, business leader, or other person in power:)

TRAVEL TO MOVIES: KATE

Director: Cedric Nicolas-Troyan
Cast: Mary Elizabeth Winstead , Woody Harrelson , Miku Martineau , Kazuya Tanabe , Miyavi , Michiel Huisman , Jun Kunimura , Shinji Uchiyama , Ulf Pilblad , Elysia Rotaru , Amelia Crouch
Plot: Meticulous and preternaturally skilled, Kate is the perfect specimen of a finely tuned assassin at the height of her game. But when she uncharacteristically blows an assignment targeting a member of the yakuza in Tokyo, she quickly discovers she's been poisoned, a brutally slow execution that gives her less than 24 hours to exact revenge on her killers. As her body swiftly deteriorates, Kate forms an unlikely bond with the teenage daughter of one of her past victims. Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson, and directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, Kate follows a burned assassin's furious pursuit of one last self-appointed job:)

My Movie Review: The movie is an incredibly violent, bloody, and brutal action film with strong kick-ass breakout act not quite for kids this thriller finds an assassin racing to find out who and why she has been poisoned so watch out for strong bloody violence and language throughout:) Kate follows Kate (Winstead), an assassin, whose mentor and handler (Harrelson) assigns her to kill a high-ranking yakuza boss along the way met a girl whose been caught in the middle of the chaos soon she comes in to protect her at all cost as found out during Kate's final mission she has at most a day to live so uses her last hours to get revenge and find out who set her up! Overall a power-packed movie that is full of some cool real badass fight scenes with Upbeat Japanese pop songs at the back; what more can I ask for visuals of neon night city are giving! Mary Elizabeth really evolved a lot as an actor, I first notice her on 10 Cloverfield Lane which is great and for then on I dig this gal for sure I will surely say that being a ruthless and supercool assassin was always one of her specialties and this spectacle defines that could ask for more! For me, this movie has good defining power to challenge movies like Kill-Bill, which still stands for its agitating cathartic female character love how they showcase their ability to be ruthless and being poised while doing those action sequences and some of this become larger than life! Note to famous phrase' "live every day as if it was your last" this movie depicted in literal terms!

Critics Consensus: Mary Elizabeth Winstead does reliably gripping work in the title role, but Kate is disappointingly derivative of numerous other female assassin films. A fun, fast-paced actioner! The violence isn't quite ultra, but at least it adds some excitement to the otherwise lackluster script. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is such a legit action star wasted by Netflix's Kate! Director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan makes great use of the Japanese setting and of newcomer Miku Patricia Martineau, who becomes Kate's unlikely local sidekick, but he might have done more with Woody Harrelson. Kate gestures at being different, something fresh and subversive, but at the end of the day, it's just reheating old clichés. Look, we get it, people are looking for new stuff to watch, mindless escapism included. Still, in terms of any sort of inspiration or originality, "Kate," the movie, is every bit as D.O.A. as Kate, the character. Its tired story and flat characterizations mean you're just counting minutes until the next shoot-out or sword fight:) Kate is a fun and schlocky revenge thriller that appears to be pretty slick, but the lackluster story stops it from reaching true heights. Kate delivers everything I could ever ask of a hard-hitting revenge-driven action movie. With a badass lead, great chemistry, and action moments that left me flinching on multiple occasions must-watch for the action aficionados out there app!
